
The exact origin of surfing on the east coast is still debatable, but the information available marks the start of surfing in the 1900s. The excellent beaches were limited to rich people, and commoners had limited approach to them. But the commoners could avail the opportunity to surf at these beaches if they impressed the elite with their surfing skills. The history of surfing championship at East coast is not old.
The original concept for the East Coast Surfing Championships came from the long island, New York in the summer of 1962 when a group of teen came here to the held fun beach and surfing party. The tournament was officially developed and recognized in 1963 and is now one of the world’s most significant surfing events.
Surfing at East coast in America is quite interesting. The first surfing board used in America came from the East coast, not the West. The history dates back to 1900. The first time the information became available to the world when the Duke visited the East coast in 1912 and showed his surfing talent. And from then the East coast started with its history of champions and championships.
Gary Propper was the first surfer known for his best surfing skills on the East coast and in one of his interviews, he admitted that he never went to West Coast for surfing. It’s not only for well-trained professionals but also for amateur surfers to ride for cash prizes totaling around $40,000 and championship titles.
